PING reached a major milestone in 1999 as it celebrated 50 years of innovation in golf. These inventions include such ground-breaking concepts as investment casting, heel-toe balance, perimeter club weighting, custom fitting, cavity back design and the PING ANSER putter, to name a few.
The PING story began in 1959 in the Redwood City, California garage of Karsten and Louise Solheim where Karsten, a Norwegian-born engineer and frustrated golfer, set out to design a putter that would improve his golf game by applying what he called "the simplest laws of physics and mechanics" to the problem of knocking little white balls into a hole. Little then did he know that he would end up revolutionizing the golf industry and establish one of the most successful companies in the history of golf.
Today, the Phoenix, Arizona-based company where more than 1000 workers leave their marks on PING products every day is under the leadership of Chairman & CEO John A. Solheim, the youngest son of Karsten and Louise. The company remains family-owned in its quest to develop the most innovative and highest quality golf equipment in the world
In recent years the company’s popular G Series (G2, G5, G10, G15 and G20) have been among the highest performing and top selling products on the market. The Solheim’s business philosophy during the company’s 50 years of innovation has never focused on being the biggest. PING Collection is a brand of men's, women's and junior golf clothing produced by PING Collection Europe Ltd under license from the Karsten Manufacturing Corporation Company. PING Collection employs a team of experienced in-house designers who work closely with and share the same brand values as PING which are; quality, technical expertise and innovation. This ensures that every collection features a diverse range of garments that will appeal to golfers of all ages and differing tastes.
Focusing on comfort, protection and performance, PING Collection is held in high esteem for its range of essential and performance enhanced on-course clothing for golfers.
There are two seasonal ranges each year (Spring / Summer and Autumn / Winter) offering a complete range of polo shirts, knitwear, trousers, windshirts, rainsuits and accessories. All ranges combine classic sophisticated hues along with vibrant seasonal highlights to allow maximum impact and choice.
PING Collection has a synergy with PING equipment and this is evident in the latest G20 range of clothing. Inspired by the launch of the G20 hardware range, the compact clothing range featuring the G20 logo comprises three performance driven polo-shirts, a stretch-fit UnderPAR layer, an advanced wind shirt, sweater and tank.
PING Collection is distributed through pro shops, driving ranges, dedicated golf stores and department stores where there is a golf department. We are listed as a preferred supplier to most UK / Eire buying groups including Foremost Golf & TGI Golf where in 1999 we were voted best Clothing Supplier as voted for by the TGI Golf Membership.
The brand is promoted through a variety of marketing tools including point of sale, merchandising support and various event sponsorships including PING Fourball Betterball Competition and the volunteer clothing supplier at the 2011 Solheim Cup in Ireland.
